Week 4 - Google Docs

Blogs are great for sources of information which can be used for business, pleasure or academically. Applications such as Blogger can be used as a clever marketing tool for businesses; it can drive traffic towards their website and reach new readers. It’s a great way to get feedback on an idea that they might want to develop further. Having an outside perspective and a little constructive criticism is invaluable for business, especially when it’s free! Applications such as Blogger is a great contribution to the world of business, pleasure and education as it can be used any place, any time and it can also boost income, which is always a bonus! (Donna)

YouTube is a useful tool for learning how to do different things. It is beneficial for certain teachings but I wouldn't recommend it for learning principles but step by step tasks are nice for visual learners.

Twitter can be useful to find opinions on certain topics or big events. However, I find that it is better used for personal reasons like getting in contact with a friend or finding jokes about school or getting updates on a game. I found it useful to choose a profile and check out the articles and information that one page posted. (Beth)

Google docs is convenient when it comes to working collaboratively but not physically being together. Before Google docs, for groups to work together that couldn’t meet up they would have to email the file, edit, save and pass on. Google docs is much simpler and saves all those steps. Even when not working in groups, Google docs is convenient to use if on a public computer, the only risk is the internet might be down. (Beth)

Week 3 - Twitter

We were asked to :-

1)Set up a Twitter account - Done @richtreban

2)Find out your classmates Twitter handles and tweet them - Done https://twitter.com/richtreban

3)Pick a Hashtag and use that Hashtag to find out information from Twitter about a topic of your choice -@Infidels_NW    #nomorerefugees

The north West Infidels mission statement is below :-

Our Race is our religion and our Nation is our church. Making a stand against radical Islam, Zionism, Communism, Irish Republicanism and the militant left.

Here is a link to their facebook page:-

m.facebook.com/profile.php?id…

From looking at the #nomorerefugees, the reasons that the North West Infidels and other right wing groups do not want more refugees are that they want Britons to come first . They want to make a stand against their corrupt government, and for their opinions to be heard .

Week 2 - YouTube

We were asked to investigate and evaluate 3 different videos.

a)Task - 'How to kick a football'

Once you have got your equipment on first  kick is a pass which you kick the ball with the inside of your foot at the base, lock your ankle and drive through, your basic pass.

Next is a chip where you need you get down the foot more like a golf motion, lean back and get under the ball.

Next is a driven shot, stay back lock your ankle and hit it on the inside of your foot.

These are the three basic kicks .

I found the video very informative and it taught me that there was more to kicking a ball than just kicking a ball.

b)Question - 'Why do Cows eat grass'

Firstly cows eat grass because they are a ruminant animal and the grass that they eat gets fermented in their stomachs.

They have evolved to be herbivores.

The micro organisms of their digestive system (rumen and stomachs) are able to break down cellulose (the carbohydrates in plants) and provide nutrients, minerals and energy for the cows.

Humans don't have these micro organisms, so we don't get any energy if we eat grass.

This video was helpful but since my full time job is a dairy farmer, I already have this knowledge
and more.

c)Concept - 'Explain the rise of Right Wing politics'

The video states that right wing politics are on the rise due to people being sick and tired of being second class citizens in their own country, sick  of religion being used as excuses in any matter at all.

In the video it states right wing are on the rise heavily due to the corruption of governments, and a multicultural society being forced upon them.

I think that this video represents the views of a lot of British people.
